Dear Parent/Carer,

After considerable discussion between Music Centre staff and management, the decision has been taken to move Music Centre from Medina College to Cowes Enterprise College (CEC) from September 2020.  Whilst we appreciate CEC is not such a central location we believe the move will bring huge benefits to the centre which will enable it to develop and expand further in the future.

As a modern building we feel CEC provides a more conducive environment that fully meets the needs of a music centre and can provide rooms of a more suitable size for each of the groups.  We will be able to distribute the groups round the college so noise pollution between groups can be avoided. Music Centre will be able to operate on one level making it safer for students and staff to move around, particularly with large instruments.  Car parking will also be easier for all and as such will make it easier for parents to drop in and speak to members of the Music Centre team if needed.

I would like to take this opportunity to to confirm the annual subscription for students will remain at £75 for the academic year 2020-2021.  We will also be expanding the groups available for parents/carers/family members.  We have the adult choir Medina Voices 10.00 – 11.00 and the Ukulele group 10.00 – 11.00.  In addition parents/carers are also welcome to learn a string instrument alongside their child at StringAlong 9.00 – 10.00.  Where applicable instruments can be loaned from the Music Hub for £30 per academic year.  Parent/carer membership to Stringalong and the Ukulele group will be £60 per academic year and Medina Voices will continue with donations from each participant each week.  We also also looking at other possible new groups – please watch this space.

These are exciting times for Music Centre and we very much hope you and your child(ren) will be able to continue with Music Centre as we move forward in a new era.

Kind regards

Zoe Hunting
