Conductor: Neil Courtney
Rehearsal Times: 10:00 to 12:30

The Isle of Wight Youth Orchestra caters for orchestral players up to and including the age of 21. Programmes are contrived to extend young players to the best of their ability and musicianship and to introduce them, over several years, to a wide range of orchestral music.
In addition to weekly rehearsals on Saturday mornings the orchestra meets up to three times a year for long weekend non-residential rehearsal courses (for which a nominal additional charge is made) which are timed to coincide with vacations for full-time college students. Main concerts take place at the end of each of these sessions.
The orchestra has a regular programme of foreign tours and exchanges, having visited Ostholstein, Germany, the Czech Republic (including Prague), the Republic of Ireland, the Salzburg region of Austria and the Catalonia area of Spain.

Before audition applicants need to have reached the following standard :
Strings – Grade 5 All others – Grade 6
