- About Music Centre
  - Venue and TimetableRehearsals are held every Saturday morning during term time at Medina High School, Fairlee, Newport. The following timetable can be modified depending on concerts and other commitments. Ensemble groupings may occasionally be broken down into smaller sectional groupings . Rehearsal schedule: Music Centre Foundation Band (10.00-12.30) Wind, Brass and Percussion up to and including Grade 3 Music Centre Brass Band (12.30-1.30, fortnightly) Catering for brass players who enjoy the special tone and camaraderie of the brass band Music Centre String Orchestra (10.00-12.30) Grade 3 standard and above Beginner Strings (10.00-11.00) Players of only a few months experience Junior String Orchestra (10.00-12.30) Grade 1/2 standard Isle of Wight Youth Choir (9.00-10.00) A variety of styles, challenging but free of charge Music Centre Wind Band (10.00-12.30) Grade 4 to 5 and above Isle of Wight Youth Stage Band (12.30-1.30, fortnightly) Taken from other senior groups Isle of Wight Youth Wind Band (10.00-12.30) Up to and including age 21. Entry by audition, Grade 6 and above.
  - Subscriptions / CostsAlthough members are asked to make a contribution towards running costs, the Centre receives a generous subsidy from the Isle of Wight Council. Subscription rates for 2009/10 will be £36 for membership for the whole year and a subsidised bus pass costs £24 for the whole year, roughly equivalent to the new IWC £1 rate. No one should be deterred from applying for membership for financial reasons. Parents receiving any form of income support may be eligible for assistance with fees and should contact either the Chair of the Isle of Wight Music Centre Friends’ Association or the Head of Music Service. Note that applicants need to reapply each year and that documentary evidence will be required.
  - Concert DressNormal concert dress is white shirt/blouse, long black skirt/trousers, music centre tie, black shoes and socks/tights. The Beginner Strings wear colourful ‘party’ dress.
