I hope you and your families are all safe and well.
Nothing has changed since my last communication. Please be assured we are monitoring the situation and hope that at some point in the New Year we will be able to put some Music Centre activity in place. We are not expecting to be able to run Music Centre as “normal” but we do understand how desperate young musicians are to get back together making live music.
We have been delighted to welcome IOW musicians to Southampton online ensemble rehearsals this term. Some Southampton groups will continue to meet online in the New Year whilst others will be meeting face to face in small groups. In person rehearsals will be live streamed so IOW players can still be involved. Those players who have engaged with the Southampton groups this term will continue to be invited next term.
Many groups have been working towards a virtual performance of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. The virtual premier of this will take place on Thursday 17 December at 7pm, this can be viewed from the following link:
With 100 performers the video is quite something to hear and see. We very much hope you will all take a moment to have a listen. The video will be available to view at anytime from the same link after 7pm on Thursday.
In the New Year please look out for the hub survey asking the young people of the Island what musical activities they would like to be involved with and when they would like these to take place. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of Music Centre.
Thank you for all your patience and understanding over the last 9 months. We are looking forward to better times in 2021.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas
