The IW Music Centre is now managed and provided by the IW Music Hub. The IW Music Hub is led in partnership with Southampton Music Hub, governed by a board with representatives from many organisations, and includes all schools and providers of musical opportunities for young people. The IW Music Centre Friends’ Association play a key part in supporting both hubs with the week-to-week running of the IW Music Centre.
The Friends’ Association is run on a purely voluntary basis. Everyone connected with the Friends cares about Music Centre and wants to help in some way to maintain a very worthwhile resource for your children. The input that the Friends give on a Saturday morning and at concerts is invaluable to the smooth running of Music Centre.
We help to raise funds to buy music, buy instruments, pay for trips, and hold workshops and a whole lot more. We take the registers, take in subscriptions, run a tuck shop and make teas and coffees for parents whilst they wait for their children. We run a raffle and give out programmes, although we do ask to support these at all concerts.
We are always in need of donations for the raffles and for Open Day. We are also always in need of an extra pair of hands on Saturday mornings and at concerts. If you have some time to spare, no matter how little and would like to help out, please get in touch with us.
For £1 per year you could become a Friend of the Association, which would entitle you to a vote at any of the General Meetings and even a place on the Committee if you were interested. Additionally, members are able to download copies of our agendas and minutes on our website.
The £1 subscription will go towards all of the extras that make Music Centre a great place for your children.
We also offer assistance with payment of Music Centre fees if you are having financial difficulties or are on a low income. If you need to access this, please see the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson or Secretary at any Saturday rehearsal session, or email .
